What Should You Expect?

Students should expect to learn medical terminology.  Medical terminology is an important part of billing/coding.  The program provided by CGS is an intense refresher course.

Students are also expected to do the 3 P's.

Prepare:

Each students should set aside 4 to 8 hours weekly to prepare for this class.  Failure to prepare is a recipe for failure.  You would not attempt to fly an airplane without the proper training.  Nor would you desire to ride in a plane if the pilot was ill-prepared.  Therefore, you should study for each class and take it seriously.

Participate:

You need to be a part of the class.  Each student should provide answers to questions and add thoughts an opinions.

Outside of class, students should attend the AAPC chapter meetings held in their local area.

Progress:

Academically you should progress.  However, you should also consider volunteering in a medical environment.  Many jobs require experience.  To get experience, you may need to volunteer your services first.

Expect hardships!  Coding is a challenge! Do not expect everything to be easy for you.  Do not expect everyone to be positive or support your dream of becoming a coder.  Prepare for the challenges you think you may face!
